Acting U.S. Attorney General and nominee for the permanent post, appointed after President Trump fired Pamela Bondi in April 2026. Previously Donald Trump's personal defense attorney. As acting attorney general, Blanche has overseen the Justice Department's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and has drawn criticism from survivors and lawmakers over a botched release that exposed victims' personal information and an initial refusal to meet with victims. At his July 2026 confirmation hearing he apologized for the redaction failures, and on July 16, 2026 he met with Epstein victims after Republican Senator Thom Tillis made the meeting a condition of advancing his nomination. He appears in the EFTA corpus mainly in incidental news clippings (as Paul Manafort's and Donald Trump's attorney) and in court filings and House Oversight transcripts, not as an associate of Jeffrey Epstein.
