Staley and PB then decided that his PB relationship will be for banking and custody only." A contemporaneous, directly-sourced account of Staley personally deciding to retain Epstein as a JPMorgan client after the 2008 conviction.

Victim complained to Jeffrey Epstein, who said "he left it to [her] and Staley to decide whether to engage in sex." JPMorgan messages between Staley and Jeffrey Epstein from this period were produced by the bank. CITATION CORRECTED 2026-08-08: published citing EFTA00022461, which resolves to parent EFTA00022456 - a 2021 USAO/CBP WebEx email thread containing none of this. The SDNY prosecution memo is EFTA02731082; every quoted fragment in this claim was located verbatim in EFTA02731082.
• EFTA02731082 (SDNY prosecution memo, footnote 59): a SECOND victim independently corroborates, "recalled Epstein asking her to massage Leon Black and Jes Staley, both of whom engaged in sexual contact with her against her will during the massages." JPMorgan messages between Staley and Jeffrey Epstein were produced by the bank covering this period. CITATION CORRECTED 2026-08-08 (#1042): published citing EFTA00022461, which resolves to parent EFTA00022456, a 2021 USAO/CBP WebEx email thread containing none of it. The quotation is verbatim in EFTA02731082; it had been trimmed to end at "against her will", which is why an exact-match check could not find it.
• doe-v-jpmorgan Doc 59 (JPMC's own third-party complaint): "personally spent time with young girls whom he met through Jeffrey Epstein"; "personally visited young girls at Jeffrey Epstein's apartments at 301 East 66th Street"; "personally observed Jeffrey Epstein sexually grab young women." JPMC alleges "upon information and belief, Staley is this person" who used "aggressive force" to assault Jane Doe 1.

• A table in a court filing lists James Staley at Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan townhouse in early 2004 and on dates from January 7, 2010 to January 19, 2011, then "Zorro Ranch, New Mexico November 1, 2009 Little St. James in the U.S. Virgin Islands January 22, 2011". The same filing says that in late 2009 or early 2010 Staley said he "would trust Epstein with his daughters", that on January 14, 2011 he said Jeffrey Epstein "didn't actually do" what he pled guilty to, and that on August 11, 2011 John Duffy told him "if I were asked why is Jeffrey Epstein a client of the bank at this stage, I would have to answer, because of Jes Staley." • usvi-v-jpmorgan: Exchanged ~1,200 emails with Jeffrey Epstein from JPMorgan account (2008-2012). Emailed Erdoes Aug 2006: "The age difference between husbands and wifes would have fit in well with Jeffrey." JPMorgan tasked Staley to discuss human trafficking allegations with Jeffrey Epstein directly. Jeffrey Epstein advised Staley on his salary negotiations July 2008.
• usvi-v-jpmorgan Doc 221: Visited Jeffrey Epstein day after July 2006 arrest. Jeffrey Epstein "admitted to the alleged conduct of engaging in sex for money with young women, only denying the ages." Emailed Erdoes: "I've never seen him so shaken. He also adamantly denies the ages." Continued advocating to keep Jeffrey Epstein as client for 7 more years.
