Businessman, son of media proprietor Robert Maxwell and brother of Ghislaine Maxwell, and in recent years one of Ghislaine Maxwell's most vocal public defenders. Following Robert Maxwell's 1991 death and the discovery that hundreds of millions of pounds had been taken from the Mirror Group pension funds, Ian and his brother Kevin were declared bankrupt and prosecuted; both were acquitted in 1996. In the EFTA corpus he appears mainly in the FBI's family mapping of Ghislaine Maxwell's relatives and in the James Hatt FD-302, which describes the post-1991 effort to recover and distribute family funds, including money Jeffrey Epstein had held, at a time when Ian and Kevin 'were declared bankrupt' and subject to asset-freezing orders.
