Founder of D.B. Zwirn & Co., a hedge fund specializing in illiquid debt securities. Jeffrey Epstein, through Financial Trust Company (FTC), was the fund's first investor starting in 2002, ultimately investing $80M across multiple tranches (valued at ~$140M by 2006, representing 10% of total fund assets). Glenn Dubin introduced Jeffrey Epstein to Zwirn and served as the fund's 'agent.' In October 2006, Zwirn reported firing the fund's CFO over accounting irregularities. Jeffrey Epstein demanded full withdrawal; a November 13, 2006 three-way call (Zwirn, Jeffrey Epstein, Dubin) produced an agreement for an $80M partial redemption. The fund refused to honor the withdrawal, later suspending all redemptions and winding down after an SEC investigation of financial irregularities. FTC and Jeepers Inc. sued Zwirn in JAMS arbitration (opened July 2011). Settlement valued at $78M in Jeffrey Epstein's August 2012 portfolio ledger. Post-conviction emails (2011–2013) show Jeffrey Epstein's circle (Harry Beller, Richard Kahn, David Mitchell) continuing to monitor Zwirn fund NAV and Zwirn's activities.
