British aristocrat: Clare Guinness, Countess of Iveagh (née Hazell), wife of Arthur Edward Rory Guinness, 4th Earl of Iveagh. She appears across the corpus under several spellings, "Clare Hazell", "Clare Hazel", "Claire Hazel" and "Clare Iveagh" - which are all the same person: Jeffrey Epstein himself wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell in 2013 asking "do you have Clare hazel . iveagh emails?" (EFTA01897244), and Jeffrey Epstein's address book lists her as "Hazell-Iveagh, Clare" at Elveden (EFTA00191467). She flew on Jeffrey Epstein's Gulfstream N908JE in 1997–98 under her maiden name, alongside Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Emmy Tayler, and was named in Giuffre v. Maxwell witness lists as "Claire Hazel", a person with knowledge of the trafficking conduct. Friendly email correspondence with Jeffrey Epstein continued through 2013–14, long after his 2008 conviction. In 2020 the UK National Crime Agency relayed open-source allegations about her to the FBI because she was then President of the West Sussex branch of the NSPCC; the NCA stated it held no derogatory information on her and was not investigating her.
Key Findings
Same person, four spellings: Jeffrey Epstein emails Ghislaine Maxwell, 16 Apr 2013, "Gmax do you have Clare hazel . iveagh emails?" (EFTA01897244). Jeffrey Epstein's own conflation of the maiden name "Hazel(l)" with the title "Iveagh" is the primary basis for merging what were previously four separate person records.
EFTA00191467: Jeffrey Epstein's address book lists her as "Hazell-Iveagh, Clare" at Elveden (the Guinness family estate).
Flight logs (N908JE, 1997–98): the handwritten pilot logs record "CLAIRE HAZEL" / "CLAREE HAZEL" flying with Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Emmy Tayler, e.g. PBI–SAF (Sep 1997) and PBI–TIST–TEB with Tiffany Gramza. The Claire/Clare and single-L/double-L variation originates in the handwriting, not in a second person. One leg lists "Claire Hazel, Victoria Hazel" - a second Hazel(l) relative.
Giuffre v. Maxwell witness lists name "Claire Hazel" as having "knowledge of Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein's sexual trafficking conduct" (EFTA01182998; CourtListener exhibits). A court exhibit index explicitly reads "Hazel (surname of Claire Hazel)".
EFTA00217957: FedEx envelope addressed to CLARE HAZELL at ELVEDEN FARMS LIMITED, from Cecilia Steen / Jeffrey E. Epstein, 457 Madison Avenue, ties the "Hazell" spelling to the Guinness estate.
EFTA01943902 (2014): she writes to Jeffrey Epstein that she will "turn 40 in 2014" and wants to take him to lunch "to say ... thank you for your amazing contribution to my life. Feeling fabulous at 40". Born c. 1974, she would have been about 23 at the time of the 1997 flights.
EFTA01933348 (16 Feb 2014): Jeffrey Epstein gives her access to a Paris apartment, "door code 2512 apt 2 DD".
EFTA00714980 (16 May 2014): she emails Jeffrey Epstein "Coco Chanel's house in the South of France is for sale if ur interested?", signing "Clare Iveagh, The Countess of Iveagh".
EFTA00037470 (30 Jun 2020): UK National Crime Agency intelligence report (OFFICIAL-ORCON) to the FBI identifies "Clare GUINNESS (née HAZELL) who is more commonly known as Lady Clare IVEAGH/Countess IVEAGH". It relays that, "according to open source, Clare IVEAGH was allegedly a close contact of EPSTEIN and travelled and stayed with him on multiple occasions" - which the flight logs corroborate. The memo also contains a partly redacted line: "Other allegations by [REDACTED] state that she was sexually abused by IVEAGH."
EFTA00037470, para. 9, the NCA's own qualification: "NCA can confirm that it does not hold any derogatory information on Clare IVEAGH and is not currently undertaking any investigation into this person or her associates." What the NCA brought to the FBI was the NSPCC's wish to run an internal review of her suitability as a branch president, not a criminal investigation.
EFTA00037469 / EFTA00037498 (Aug 2020): the FBI asks SDNY whether "any internal NSPCC investigation into Clare Iveagh would adversely affect your investigation"; SDNY replies it "has no issue with NCA proceeding with their investigation of Clare Iveagh".
At the time of the 2020 referral she was President of the West Sussex branch of the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).
