Its giving is invisible: no grant schedule for this foundation exists anywhere in the files. What does survive is its paperwork, and the paperwork is the story. First Bank classified the account as a HIGH RISK BUSINESS ACCOUNT, which under the bank's own written policy required a site visit and a completed 'Observations at Place of Business' form within four weeks of opening. The form sits in the account file with every single field blank, and the high-risk checklist beside it has no box ticked. Its funding is partly visible through the same file: a Financial Trust Company cheque dated 11 August 2000, drawn on Scotiabank St. Thomas, pays $187,500 into it three weeks before the account was opened. Under the Enhanced Education name it moved $4.6M described as charity, and JPMorgan records show it paying $124,232 to Leslie Wexner.
The same board consent survives in two productions and only one is readable. EFTA01441150 carries no original scan at all - the image embedded in its pages is a typeset rendering of the automatic text extraction, which garbles the names and flattens the columns. EFTA00169300 is the genuine scan of the same document, and it is the one every detail above is read from.
