Evidence related to Epstein's death and the circumstances surrounding it.
The DOJ Office of Inspector General report (EFTA00035824, June 22, 2023) found systemic failures at MCC New York on the night of Epstein's death:
The FBI seized 18 hard drives from the MCC Nice Vision DVR2 Surveillance System on August 10, 2019 at 4:30 PM EDT. BOP subsequently implemented a monthly security camera reporting process at all institutions (EFTA00035907) — a direct consequence of the Epstein failures.
EFTA documents reconstruct the final hours of Jeffrey Epstein's life at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in unprecedented detail.
EFTA00034346: After Epstein was found with a bed sheet around his neck on July 23, he was placed on suicide watch. After just one week, the MCC Chief Psychologist removed him, ordering he be housed with a cellmate. Epstein had told psychologists: "I'm a coward. I don't like pain" (EFTA00032162) and requested to stay where it was "safe."
EFTA00038617 (FBI CID Summary): FBI and SDNY "met with Epstein's attorneys" who "discussed the possibility of a resolution of the case, and the possibility of the defendant's cooperation." This meeting—where naming co-conspirators was discussed—occurred 12 days before his death.
Grand jury testimony (EFTA02731812) and the BOP suicide timeline (EFTA00034367) establish:
Guards Noel and Thomas missed all five institutional counts (4 PM, 10 PM, 12 AM, 3 AM, 5 AM), signed false count slips for each, and made approximately 75 false 30-minute round entries. The FBI testified this was unprecedented—"more than one count [was] never missed in a row" before August 9.
Per FBI forensic examination of their computers: Noel browsed furniture sales and benefits websites. Thomas browsed motorcycle sales and sports news. FBI found no evidence of bribery in their bank accounts.
Cellmate Efrain Reyes departed for court at 8:00 AM on August 9 and did not return. No replacement was assigned, directly violating the psychology department's explicit cellmate requirement. Epstein spent his last night alone.
Multiple SHU cameras were not recording due to a pre-existing DVR failure. Only one camera angle was available. A new system had arrived in Oct 2018 but was not installed until after Epstein's death (EFTA00036859: 23 of 161 cameras not recording).
EFTA00024352: Prosecutors were furious at BOP’s communication failures: "It is frankly unbelievable to me that BOP is issuing public press releases on this before telling us basic information."
OCME ruled suicide by hanging (EFTA00031006). Noel and Thomas were indicted for falsifying records (EFTA02731812).
A June 11, 2020 email from an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) in the Eastern District of New York (EFTA00023753) inadvertently discloses two remarkable facts about the official investigation into Epstein's death.
The AUSA was working on an unrelated case — the death of an inmate at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) — and contacted the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) to request a template confidentiality agreement. In doing so, the AUSA wrote:
"The OCME told me that it signed a confidentiality agreement in connection with the investigation into the murder of Jeffrey Epstein."
Two details stand out:
The medical examiner's office — which conducted the autopsy and officially ruled Epstein's death a suicide by hanging — had signed a formal confidentiality agreement specifically tied to the Epstein investigation. It is not publicly known who the agreement was with (DOJ, FBI, BOP, or a private party), nor what it prohibits OCME from disclosing.
This is internal DOJ correspondence, not a press release or public filing. The AUSA's casual use of "murder" — rather than "death" or "suicide" — in a routine email to OCME suggests that this characterization was in common use among federal prosecutors familiar with the case, at least informally.
OCME's chief medical examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson ruled the death "suicide by hanging" in August 2019. Independent forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden, hired by Epstein's brother, concluded the injuries were "consistent with homicidal strangulation." The existence of a confidentiality agreement may explain why OCME has not publicly responded to Baden's competing analysis.
Dr. Perry Bard, a chiropractor in West Palm Beach / Delray Beach (Health First Chiropractic Center), was Epstein's personal chiropractor with documented appointments spanning at least 2013–2017, coordinated through Lesley Groff.
Epstein's 1953 Trust, signed August 8, 2019 — two days before his death — names Bard as a $3 million beneficiary: "to PERRY BARD... the sum of Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000)" (EFTA00099303). This is an extraordinarily large bequest to a chiropractor.
A Palm Beach Police sexual battery investigation at Epstein's residence (358 El Brillo Way, Case 1-05-000368) found a phone number registered to "Dr Perry Bard... a chiropractor... 4275 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach" (EFTA00084614).
A phone log records Dr. Bard calling Epstein's residence with the message: "Just wanted to see if the girls had a good time" (EFTA00257211). The reference to "the girls" in a call to a convicted sex offender's residence is concerning.
Bard was subpoenaed to testify in federal court (EFTA00186835) and appeared on the FBI Operation Leap Year contact list (EFTA00221072). In July 2017, Bard stayed at Epstein's Manhattan apartment for five days (EFTA02216282).
The FBI case briefing (EFTA00164939) documents the MCC death investigation (90A-NY-3151227):
Surveillance failures: "DVR2 - system failure on 7/29/2019, resulting in the system not recording. On 8/8/2019, BOP learned that DVR #2 system was not recording." The DVR failure began 12 days before Epstein's death and was only noticed 2 days before.
5 missed head counts between 7/23/2019 and 8/9/2019. CO Michael Thomas was working 2 of those 5 shifts, including the shift during which Epstein died. Approximately 450 hours of video reviewed; 43 interviews conducted (28 MCC staff, 15 SHU inmates).
"Case closed 12/5/2022, with no criminality found pertaining to Epstein's death. OCME autopsy report stated cause of death was hanging and the manner of death was suicide." COs Thomas and Noel were charged with False Records and Conspiracy, entering a deferred prosecution agreement in May 2021.
Ruslana Korshunova, a Kazakhstani model known as "the Russian Rapunzel" who appeared in Vogue and Elle, was known personally to Epstein — he later wrote "I knew her very well" (EFTA00785575). Publicly available flight logs (not confirmed in EFTA corpus) place her on Epstein's Boeing 727 on June 7, 2006 at age 18, bound for his island. His modeling agent Ramsey Elkholy managed her estate after death (EFTA00689971).
On June 28, 2008, Korshunova was found dead after falling from a 9th-floor balcony at 130 Water Street, Manhattan. She was 20. Ruled suicide — no note found, no substances in her system. Friends and family rejected the ruling.
Epstein discussed her death obsessively across eight years (2010-2019):
Epstein used Korshunova's death for eight years as a tool of psychological manipulation — invoking her tragedy to control other young women's medical decisions and then demanding sexual photos.
On August 17, 2019 — one week after Epstein's death — the FBI opened case 90C-NY-3154599 into "contraband being brought into Metropolitan Correctional Center." The FBI's own summary states that "Epstein was referenced in this case" (EFTA00163964). An internal FBI email described it as "Possible - MCC corruption case" (EFTA01649103).
The investigation centered on Robert Adams, a corrections officer at MCC. Cross-dataset redaction analysis of six copies of Adams's FBI FD-302 interview (conducted August 16, 2019) reveals that Adams was working an overnight shift in the 10 South Unit — the single-celled secure unit adjacent to the SHU where Epstein was housed — on the night Epstein died. Adams corresponds to "Correctional Officer 3" in the DOJ OIG report (EFTA00172546): Noel conducted the 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM counts with him in 10 South, and Thomas relieved him at approximately 5:30 AM.
During the August 16 interview, investigators showed Adams a photograph of an unidentified person. Adams immediately requested a lawyer. Investigators discontinued questioning, but Adams then stated unprompted: "I want to be clear, I never brought stuff into the jail or allowed stuff in. I never did that" (EFTA00040794). The FBI seized his cell phone (Motorola G6/XT1921-5) pursuant to a pre-existing SDNY search warrant; Adams refused to provide the passcode.
Investigators requested MCC CCTV footage for seven specific dates: May 31, June 14, June 21, July 5, July 26, August 7, and August 14 (EFTA00109000, EFTA00109041). Physical evidence inventories include an ELSUR (electronic surveillance) envelope (EFTA00008479).
Adams's name was identified through an OCR redaction leak in EFTA00075281, where OCR captured "ADAMS said" through an improperly applied redaction. Six copies of the same FD-302 exist with varying redaction levels across the corpus.
On September 28, 2020, Adams was indicted on one count of bribery and one count of blackmail. On July 5, 2019 — the day before Epstein's arrest — Adams caught a female visitor smuggling contraband into MCC and demanded she engage in sexual acts in exchange for not prosecuting her. He subsequently allowed continued smuggling. Case closed October 2023.
Jean-Luc Brunel was arrested at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport in December 2020 on charges of rape of minors. The U.S. DOJ coordinated an MLAT (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty) request to France regarding Brunel that same month (EFTA00079595), and SDNY prosecutors coordinated with the U.S. Embassy in Paris in January 2021 (EFTA00030842).
On February 19, 2022, Brunel was found hanged in his cell at the Prison de la Santé in Paris. He was 76. French authorities found "no elements allowing to retain the intervention of a third party."
An FBI internal email forwarded the news with the comment: "The plot thickens" (EFTA00174043). The attached article noted that Brunel's death meant his case was closed unless other suspects were implicated.
Brunel's lawyers said his suicide was "not guided by guilt but a profound sense of injustice."
The parallels to Epstein's death — both found hanged while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges, both in custody, both deaths closing active cases — generated widespread suspicion. Brunel is the second person directly charged in the Epstein trafficking network to die by hanging in custody.
The victim who was drugged and raped at Brunel's Paris apartment stated:
"She stated that at the time Jean-Luc BRUNEL used to bring in girls from the East, particularly young girls."
This corroborates the documented Aeroflot pipeline (3,005 EFTA documents), Daniel Siad's scouting in Latvia (EFTA00775255: "she looks younger from Latvia"), and the victim diary entry about Maxwell recruiting "from former eastern countries in Europe." Brunel was found dead in his Paris jail cell on February 19, 2022, in an apparent suicide while awaiting trial for rape and sexual assault.
A separate diary entry (EFTA02731420) reveals additional names from the DC cluster:
"No one can prepare you for this shit. I am so fucking lost. Why did Mr. Colgan agree to this! Jeffrey treats me like I'm 'special' property, and when I need Ghislaine she is working and Mary is just as bat shit crazy as my mom. Joe Gibbs is so nice but Dan Snyder is a pig! A red skin hoggett(sp?)! The other girls well some are nice, but 3 I hate! Alice in fucking Wonderland?"
Key revelations: "Mr. Colgan" — now identified as Charles J. Colgan, Virginia State Senator — "agreed to this", implying direct participation or facilitation of abuse. Joe Gibbs (legendary Washington Redskins/Commanders head coach) is described as "so nice" but was present alongside Dan Snyder (team owner, called "a pig"). The reference to "The other girls well some are nice, but 3 I hate!" confirms multiple victims were present. The mention of "Alice in fucking Wonderland" adds to the pattern of fairy tale references found throughout the Epstein corpus (see Disney Princess Code Names section).
A "Merrill, Pastor and Colgan Architects" firm in Vero Beach, Florida (near Epstein's Palm Beach house) wrote a letter in Epstein's files dated June 26, 2013 (EFTA01205013). This is likely a different Colgan. Independent diary analysts (Narativ, Feb 2026) identified the diary's "Mr. Colgan" as Charles J. Colgan, Virginia State Senator (1976–2016), who represented Prince William County — northern Virginia, immediately adjacent to McLean, VA where the Roberts trafficking mansion was located. Colgan was the longest-serving Virginia state senator in history. He died January 3, 2017. The DC political geography fits precisely with the other diary names: Goodlatte (VA congressman), Snyder, Leonsis, Case (all DC).
An FBI interview summary (EFTA00022133) documents a coordinated witness silencing campaign:
A victim who was abused by Alan Dershowitz "at least 6 times, aged 16-19" describes how "In 2007 Maxwell and Epstein (separately) called her to ask her to keep quiet."
A separate victim declaration (EFTA00020729) describes the dual-threat approach used against victims: "they were being discredited as drug addicts and prostitutes. But, on the other hand, if I were to keep quiet, I would 'be looked after.'"
The victim adds: "The fact that this call came in right after the FBI call reinforced my concern that the man I had talked to earlier was not really working for the FBI" — suggesting that Epstein's team was monitoring FBI contacts with witnesses.
Another document (EFTA00019169) notes a key witness who "settled last year with her for pennies (in comparison to what he's worth), and she now has a gag order" — despite being a witness who "was on his plane many times being paid to perform sexual activities with heads of state, leading businessmen, royalty, politicians and celebrities."
A third document (EFTA00037683) references someone under a gag order being told to "shut her up" if she didn't go along with the whole "suicide" cover story, and that "she was arrested and murdered".
The victim diary names "Mr. Conway" alongside Mr. Jacobson, Mr. Vradenberg, and Bill S. as people "who dont care if this happens!". Cross-referencing identifies John Horton Conway (1937-2020), the Princeton/Cambridge mathematician famous for the Game of Life.
Conway appears on approximately 54 Epstein seminar/science event guest lists alongside Marvin Minsky, Gerry Sussman, and Steven Wolfram — other scientists the victim diary also names:
The diary context is devastating: the victim describes a medical procedure with "blood all over the sheets" and names Conway as among those who were aware and did nothing. Conway died April 11, 2020 of COVID-19.
Virginia Giuffre's sworn statement: "I was very afraid of what he was going to do to me. I thought Epstein or one of his powerful friends might send someone to have me killed." She fled to Australia and did not return to the US for over 10 years (2002-2013), hiding from Epstein.
A contact of Jeanne Palfrey (the "DC Madam") wrote to FBI alleging Palfrey was murdered because she planned to release client names overlapping with Epstein's network. The contact stated Palfrey was "calling me frantic because she was being followed all day the day before she was found dead." Palfrey's mother "was scared whoever murdered her daughter would come back and shut her up."
Same victim's trafficking intake questionnaire: "I was raped by Jeffery Epstein. Multiple times. He was threatening to kill and harm other children if I didn't do what he said. He had video cameras he said, and if I didn't do what he said they would see that I caused the other children to get hurt. Then I would be put in jail."
Also: "I was born into sex trafficking...I was forced by threat of being killed, bodily harm, and threats of harming other children if I did not have sex with them and any other people that they sold me to."
At USVI: "I was 17 years old...blindfolded and taken to an underground location. It had steps that went down. I was raped by Jeffery Epstein, there were other men that raped me. I was kept in a stall so that men could look at me."
FBI interview of the MCC camera technician (EFTA00064309):
"Only one hard drive of the camera system was working at the time of the incident on August 10, 2019. When a DVR went bad, none of the cameras recorded."
The FBI presentation (EFTA00164480) details the systematic failures:
OIG surveillance analysis confirmed: "The FBI identified that only one of the cameras located within the MCC New York SHU was recording... The video footage was of low quality."
A BOP Facilities Manager memo dated August 13, 2019 states: "On Saturday August 10, 2019 I was informed that there was no recording of the closed circuit cameras (CCTV) from recorder 2." August 10, 2019 was the date of Epstein's death. The FBI came to retrieve video but found two bad hard drives being replaced. They seized all eighteen (18) hard drives — the two bad ones and sixteen from the RAID array. Critically, "when the FBI took the sixteen (16) hard drives out of the RAID without it finishing the rebuild it might have corrupted any data on the drives." The FBI's own actions may have destroyed the remaining video evidence.
Internal BOP emails reveal that after the FBI seized the drives, "recording capabilities will be off line for up to 8-10 days while they retrieve this data. We will still have live viewing/monitoring." Staff scrambled to restore recording capability, with the Regional Office directing emergency procurement of replacement equipment. A camera status report from August 16, 2019 (6 days after death) showed 23 out of 161 cameras still in outage (14.3%). The entire MCC camera infrastructure was in a degraded state surrounding Epstein's death.
FBI internal emails from July 23-24, 2019 document Epstein's first incident in jail:
"SDNY advised that Epstein was found unconscious in his cell with red marks on his neck. When staff was able to revive Epstein, he couldn't recall what happened. His cellmate denied knowing..."
The cellmate was Nicholas Tartaglione, a former police officer charged with four murders. The FBI emails show concern about "potential 282 on the guards" (possible criminal charges against guards). Epstein died one month later on August 10, 2019.
"The 1953 Trust" was amended on August 8, 2019 — just two days before Epstein's death on August 10. The 32-page document names Boris Nikolic (former science advisor to Bill Gates) as backup executor if primary executors Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn are "unwilling or unable to serve." Nikolic appears in 501 documents in the release.
Epstein's Last Will and Testament names Jes Staley as a successor executor: "I appoint DARREN K. INDYKE, JOSEPH PAGANO and LAWRENCE NEWMAN to be the Executors of this Will. If any one or more of my Executors fails to qualify or ceases to act, I appoint JES STALEY and ANDREW FARKAS, singly and in the order named, as successor Executors." This reveals an extraordinarily close legal relationship — Epstein trusted Staley to manage his estate after death. Staley was a senior JP Morgan executive at the time and personally intervened to keep Epstein as a client after his 2008 felony conviction.
The will was signed on August 8, 2019 — two days before Epstein's death. This legal designation indicates Epstein trusted both Staley and Farkas to manage his estate affairs if primary executors were unable to serve.
Epstein's October 2016 schedule shows: "12:30pm LUNCH w/Peter Thiel and Vitaly Churkin" on October 7, 2016. Churkin died just 4 months later on February 20, 2017.
FBI document reveals Epstein's accusation against his cellmate:
"EPSTEIN claimed that his cellmate, NICHOLAS TARTAGLIONE, tried to take his life. He was placed back on Suicide Watch for approximately one week."
This incident occurred around July 23, 2019. Epstein was found dead on August 10, 2019. The document notes: "Unlike his first and previous placement on Suicide Watch, EPSTEIN now has definitive suicidal tendencies reported in his incarceration history."
The OCME autopsy (EFTA00163486) found: "Fractures of bilateral thyroid cartilage cornuae and left hyoid cornua with accompanying soft tissue hemorrhages."
Dr. Michael Baden, former NYC medical examiner hired by the family, stated: "The evidence points toward homicide rather than suicide. The fractures in the hyoid bone are very unusual for suicide."
Epstein's brother Mark emailed his attorney: "Blood vessel in eye like a strangulation. Bruises to mouth. Bruise to back of neck."
The OCME officially ruled: Cause of death: Hanging. Manner of death: Suicide. The OIG concluded there was "no evidence to contradict" this finding, citing absence of defensive wounds under fingernails or bruises from a struggle.
On July 23, 2019, Epstein was found with a noose around his neck. He was placed on suicide watch but removed after only 31 hours and 5 minutes. The After Action Review (EFTA00036082) notes:
"The Suicide Risk Assessment dated July 23, 2019, refers to the ligature as a 'string' when in fact it was a sizable portion of torn bed sheet."
Despite this deliberate minimization, the MCC Chief Psychologist approved removing him from suicide watch on July 29. Epstein told the psychologist: "I'm a coward... he does not like pain" and claimed he "cannot remember what happened in SHU that caused the marks on his neck."
Five to six days after Epstein's death, on August 15-16, 2019:
"Inmate brought down bales of shredded paper on Thursday and Friday of last week (August 15 and 16), and reported that he had been asked to shred documents by the BOP after-action team... and that 'they are shredding everything'"
The FBI investigated: "Interviewed inmate Steven Lopez at MCC at 1100 regarding possible shredding of Epstein documents" (EFTA00037228). A correctional officer corroborated: "After Action Team was shredding documents after observing inmate Steven Lopez carrying three bags of shredded documents instead of his normal two bags" (EFTA00165518).
Despite these reports, the FBI concluded the shredding "did not support federal criminal activity, specifically obstruction of justice" (EFTA00146839). The shredded paper was sent to the FBI Lab for analysis (EFTA00026890).
FBI intake report (10/27/2020): A woman stated that "Donald J. Trump had raped her along with Jeffrey Epstein." A girl with "a funny name" took her to a "fancy hotel or building." When advised to call police, she said "I can't, they will kill me."
She later called police on Christmas Day. On 01/10/2000, she was found dead in Kiefer, OK with her "head blown off." Officers on scene "stated there was no way it was a suicide." The coroner ruled it suicide.
Efrain Reyes (BOP #85993-054) was assigned as Epstein's cellmate on July 30, 2019, after psychology staff mandated Epstein have a cellmate following the July 23 suicide attempt. He told Epstein: "don't hang yourself up in my cell. Don't try to kill yourself in this cell. I don't want to wake up to find you dead. He said don't worry I'm never going to cause you trouble" (EFTA00163507).
Reyes departed MCC at 8:00 AM on August 9, 2019 for court. At 1:50 PM, an officer warned: "Inmate Reyes #85993-054 was going WAB and possibly may not return. Also that Inmate Epstein #76318-054 will be needing a cell mate" (EFTA00143071). No replacement was assigned. Epstein was found dead ~22.5 hours later.
Reyes was proffered at SDNY on August 16, 2019 — six days after Epstein's death. He changed his plea on August 26, 2019 and was sentenced April 13, 2020 — both proceedings sealed.
On November 30, 2020, an AUSA emailed colleagues: "just learned from Probation that Efrain Reyes died. It sounds like it was in his sleep. Given his history, I think it may have been drug related, but perhaps not." The response: "Sorry to hear that. You're correct that we didn't need his testimony" (EFTA00019925). Reyes died at his mother's apartment in the Bronx at age 51.
The prosecutors' unguarded communications show they did not find his death suspicious. An unexplained $200 payment was made to both Epstein and Reyes by someone identified as possibly Epstein's attorney (EFTA00142820). As of June 2025, the FBI was still using Reyes's proffer notes in briefing materials for senior officials.
Two of the most critical witnesses in the Epstein case died of illness before the renewed 2019 federal prosecution, depriving prosecutors of irreplaceable testimony.
Rodriguez was Epstein's house manager at his Palm Beach mansion — the only employee who testified without an Epstein-paid attorney. He witnessed "numerous underage girls coming into Epstein's mansion for purported 'massages'" and took what he called "The Holy Grail": a journal from Epstein's computer containing names of underage girls and prominent associates. He was charged with obstruction for attempting to sell it for $50,000, stating he needed the money and feared Epstein would make him "disappear" unless he had an "insurance policy." Sentenced to 18 months.
A FOIA request confirmed his death on December 28, 2014, noting the file contained "the identification of numerous minor sex trafficking victims" (EFTA00211150). He died of mesothelioma (asbestos-related cancer) at approximately age 60.
Detective Recarey was the lead Palm Beach PD investigator beginning September 2005. He interviewed dozens of victims and documented covert cameras in Epstein's home. An Epstein email to attorney Martin Weinberg discusses "recarey questions" as part of legal strategy (EFTA00733036). Died at age 50 of a brief illness (reported as cancer).
Both deaths are consistent with natural causes. Their significance is strategic: the insider who stole Epstein's records and the detective who built the original case were both unavailable when SDNY finally brought charges in July 2019.
Steven Hoffenberg was Epstein's business partner in Towers Financial Corporation, a $473 million Ponzi scheme. He served 18 years in prison.
Hoffenberg told attorney Bradley Edwards' firm that "he had information regarding Jeffrey Epstein being involved in the murder of Arthur L. Shapiro" (EFTA00108851). Shapiro was a Columbus, Ohio attorney shot multiple times in a cemetery on March 6, 1985 — the day before he was scheduled to testify before a federal grand jury in a tax fraud case.
The FBI investigated: Columbus PD Detective James McCoskey confirmed Berry Kessler, Shapiro's co-defendant, was the prime suspect — a secretary saw Kessler meeting a man matching the killer's description "in his office with a suitcase or briefcase of money" (EFTA00270345). Kessler was later convicted of murder for pecuniary gain in a separate Florida case.
The FBI noted Hoffenberg "appears to have a history of mental illness" and attempted to interview him at Fort Dix FCI. He refused to cooperate without a court-appointed attorney but subsequently gave a one-hour taped interview to Newsweek and the Daily Mail (EFTA00078171).
When Les Wexner's name appeared in Columbus newspaper reports alleging a connection to the homicide, McCoskey "found no evidence connecting Wexner to the homicide case." FBI conclusion: "McCoskey's investigation has revealed no connection between the homicide of Shapiro and Jeffrey Epstein to date" (EFTA00270345).
Hoffenberg was found dead in his apartment in Derby, Connecticut on August 23, 2022 at age 77. Natural causes.
A victim stated that Epstein and Maxwell "refused, threatening to hurt her, hurt her family, and burn all of her artwork. They told her they were connected to important people and bad things would happen to her if she did or said anything."
Maxwell specifically threatened: "one night while she would be walking in a New York City park or near the West Side Highway, someone would silently come up behind her and she would be maimed or killed."
Virginia Roberts describes Jean-Luc Brunel bringing Epstein a "birthday present" of three 12-year-old sisters from France. She states the girls were "so young and so scared" and that Epstein abused them. This allegation about 12-year-old sisters has been consistent across Roberts' testimony in multiple legal proceedings and was referenced in prosecution filings. Brunel was found dead in his Paris prison cell in February 2022, officially ruled a suicide.
A victim/witness statement documented in SDNY files describes abuse that "started when she was on Wexner's estate". Maxwell's role is described as being instructed to "go get girls for Jeffrey", and Maxwell referred to the victims as "nubiles" — a term meaning sexually attractive young girls (EFTA00076608).
The same statement documents Maxwell issuing death threats: "We're going to burn all your art" and telling the witness to "be really careful because there are a lot of ways to die there". Maxwell also allegedly stole nude photographs of the witness's 12-year-old sister.
The statement also describes violent sexual assault by both Epstein and Maxwell — groping, assault, and barricading in a room. The witness expressed anger that "no victims were offered witness protection" in the Florida case and that the FBI "interviewed her sister but not her."
One victim states: "randy bowie was ordered to kill me" — describing Bowie as a "sharp shooter" (EFTA00097901, EFTA00068892). The same victim says her ordeal "started when she was on Wexner's estate" and claims "He never in a trillion years would have taken his own life. He was an intelligence asset."
A second victim independently states: "I was ASSAULTED AGAINST MY WILL after being held captive months by sharp shooter RANDY BOWIE" (EFTA01652966, May 2025). This victim distinguishes her experience from consensual encounters, describing captivity and assault.
FedEx records independently corroborate: Shipping records from December 2003 show Randy Bowie receiving packages connected to both Jeffrey E. Epstein (457 Madison Ave) and The Limited Inc — Les Wexner's company (EFTA01316656, EFTA00218217). A signature "R,BOWIE" appears on delivery receipts (EFTA01259813).
The second victim provides chilling detail about Wexner's New Albany compound: "The authorities in Ohio (911) NEW ALBANY SHERIFF dept hung up on me. When I called again, 'We work for WEXNER and the sheriff is at the gate.' The sharp shooter body guard terrorized me and promised my death, 'YOU ARE NEVER LEAVING!!!'" (EFTA01652864). This suggests local law enforcement in New Albany was compromised by Wexner's influence.
The first victim's claims were sent to SDNY US Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who dismissed them: "She has obviously lost it" (EFTA00097901). However, the FedEx records, independent second victim corroboration, and the specific New Albany/Wexner compound detail suggest Bowie's role as an enforcer warrants investigation.
MCC records document the timeline:
Eyewitnesses reported "several large garbage bags with shredded documents" outside the Southern Trust office approximately two weeks before Epstein's July 2019 arrest.
Additional shredding evidence: At MCC after Epstein's death, a guard reported an inmate brought "bays of shredded papers" to a dumpster (EFTA00031633). The FBI/OIG investigated possible shredding of Epstein documents at MCC (EFTA00037228).
Staff also testified that Maxwell "asked to shred books" — contact books at a residence (EFTA00156204), and that staff were told to "shred printouts of contact numbers" after Epstein said "something was stolen or compromised" (EFTA00159380).
Documents reveal the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) used the NiceVision surveillance system — 22 H.264 encoders supporting 16 cameras each (352 cameras total). Around Epstein's death in August 2019, there were significant technical and communication failures:
This adds technical detail to the known surveillance failures around Epstein's death — a system with 352 cameras experienced database errors and multi-party communication breakdowns at the critical moment.
Mark Middleton served as a special assistant to President Clinton and reportedly arranged Epstein's White House visits. DOJ documents confirm an ongoing relationship well beyond the Clinton years:
On May 7, 2022, Middleton was found dead on a ranch in Perryville, Arkansas at age 59. The cause of death was hanging combined with a gunshot wound — an unusual combination. Ruled suicide. The family sued to prevent release of crime scene photos. No official finding of foul play. Middleton had reportedly been in financial distress.
EFTA00579243 (Oct 13, 2004): Doug Band — Bill Clinton's close aide — texted Ghislaine Maxwell while socializing with billionaire Steve Bing:
Band to Maxwell: "Just grabbing a quick bite at diner next to my house. Going out with steve bing later. Tired and feeling poopsy. Grt seeing you as well."
Maxwell: "And Carol send her love too."
This casual exchange reveals how Band, Maxwell, and Bing moved in the same social orbit. Bing was a major Democratic donor who inherited nearly a billion dollars. He appeared alongside Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Ron Burkle, and Richard Branson at exclusive NYC venues (EFTA00013635/EFTA00214252, Vanity Fair article).
Bing was listed in Epstein's contacts (EFTA00506709). On June 22, 2020, Bing fell from his 27th-floor apartment in Century City, Los Angeles. His death was ruled a suicide. He was 55 years old. Ten days later, on July 2, 2020, Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested.
Pedro Gaspar, a Brazilian model and party promoter, lived in apartment 3W at 6 West 14th Street, Manhattan — directly above MC2 Model Management, the agency co-founded by Jean-Luc Brunel with up to $1 million in Epstein startup funding. MC2 was central to Epstein's trafficking operation.
On August 27, 2012, Gaspar was found dead at age 29. Cause: acute intoxication from combined effects of ethanol and cocaine. Ruled accidental.
In February 2015, Daily Beast reporter M.L. Nestel emailed Epstein's attorney Martin Weinberg: "I am writing a story about a former male model/party promoter who passed away at 6 West 14th Street back in 2012. This is above MC2 Modeling agency and I am hoping Epstein might have some response or condolences to share." Weinberg forwarded to Epstein, who replied: "i know nothing of this zero. why should I?" (EFTA00864735)
No evidence of foul play. Included because the death occurred in an Epstein-funded building and Epstein's dismissive response is documented in the DOJ library.
Rinaldo Rizzo, a former employee connected to Epstein's network, emailed federal agents on July 11, 2019 — three days after Epstein's arrest — urging them not to grant bail (EFTA01250175). His warning: "Please do not underestimate Mr. Epstein's ability to leave the country as he is asking for bail."
Rizzo provided specific intelligence: Epstein "has an apartment in Paris and he has friends that have the private means of getting him out of the country." He described the inner workings of Epstein's support network: "Mr. Epstein is like a family member to my former employer and they will help him and vice versa." He characterized the network as one where associates "do favors for each other" including access to "private planes and cars."
Rizzo's warning proved prescient — Epstein was denied bail on July 18, 2019, and was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019, under circumstances that remain disputed. The email demonstrates that people within Epstein's orbit understood the network's capacity for coordinated action to protect its members.
Senator Durbin's July 2025 letter revealed that MCC surveillance footage described by the DOJ as 'full raw' was in fact 'likely modified, according to the metadata embedded in the video' (EFTA00173350).
This adds to two prior failures:
Three separate mechanisms — system crash, wrong camera, and metadata modification — independently degraded the video record of Epstein's death.
Handwritten MCC monitoring log dated July 30, 2019 (inmate #76318-054) documents 15-minute observation checks on Epstein. The log records routine entries — sleeping, eating breakfast, "talking to me about jail life" — but critically notes at 3:15 AM: "Psych observation is being discontinued."
This is the day after MCC Chief Psychologist approved removing Epstein from suicide watch on July 29. An apparent intervention is noted at 7:53 AM. The document is marked CONFIDENTIAL (SDNY_00009291).
Context: Epstein was found dead 11 days later on August 10, 2019. The DOJ OIG later found that MCC staff falsified count slips and Epstein was unobserved for approximately 8 hours before his death.
