[0:00]Uh, I just want to begin by just clarifying and putting emphasis on something that's very important and it's something the secretary herself has said. Secretary Clinton never met
[0:11]Jeffrey Epstein. She never visited the island. She never flew on his plane and she also had no knowledge of Jeffrey
[0:20]Epstein's horrific crime. So, zero knowledge of any wrongdoing. and you've also all heard that uh directly from her.
[0:32]Secretary Clinton is also completely cooperating with the deposition and the committee and is answering questions
[0:41]in full faith and in good faith. What is not acceptable is oversight Republicans breaking their own committee rules that they
[0:51]established with the secretary and her team, which we've you've all reported, you've seen by releasing photos. Not acceptable. And it was gracious of the secretary and her
[1:03]team to continue the deposition. What we also want to say at this very moment is it's becoming more clear every
[1:11]single day is the questions continue to build around this DOJ and the White House and the focus of the majority.
[1:21]We want to understand right now where the missing FBI files are. These are files that accuse the president of the United
[1:32]States about serious serious accusations around sexual abuse. And the fact that they're not in the files and have been
[1:42]apparently either removed or discarded is incredibly concerning. And so we're calling on Attorney General Pam Bondi to
[1:52]immediately release those files. And lastly, I want to also add that this committee has now set a new president
[2:02]about talking to presidents and former presidents. And we're demanding immediately that we ask President Trump to testify in front of our committee and be deposed
[2:13]in front of oversight Republicans and Democrats. And that should happen immediately. He is the person that appears almost more than anyone else in the committee and it needs to happen right now. >> Mr. Do you distinguish you distinguish
[2:25]at all between president and a former president and a sitting president? I mean, is there something in there? Because they will say, "Wait a minute. We don't I think look, I think >> the court ruled on the we should we should depose the
[2:37]person that is mentioned in the Epstein files almost more than any other person next to Gain Maxwell, and that's Donald Trump." >> Mr. >> Thank you. Thank you. Uh, House
[2:47]Republicans need to get serious about this investigation. Uh be I understand now fully why uh Secretary Clinton wanted to make uh this deposition and
[2:57]her hearing public. Uh because the reality is we are talking to the wrong person today who we should be talking to instead of people who are actually mentioned in the files. People who have made misleading statements about their
[3:09]relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Earlier today, Chairman Comr mentioned being open to talking to Secretary Lutnik. Well, let's get him in. Let's talk to Secretary Lutnik instead. Let's talk to someone who is neighbors with
[3:21]Jeffrey Epstein, who actually associated with Jeffrey Epste, not someone who had never ever met Jeffrey Epstein to their knowledge. And so, let's try to talk about people who will help us with our investigation. And let's release the two
[3:32]and a half million files so we can know who else to talk to and so we can do right by the victims and actually bring justice. Thank you. I am extremely
[3:42]extremely appalled by the Republican chairman's behavior today and by the behavior of the entire committee and how uncerious they are about this
[3:53]investigation. Let's remind the country about what we are actually talking about. Jeffrey Epstein, Galileain Maxwell, and a list of many rich and
[4:05]powerful people from around the United States and around the world abused and raped more than a thousand people who were children, many of whom were
[4:15]children at the time. And today we are sitting through an incredibly unserious clown show of a deposition where members of Congress in the Republican party are
[4:27]more concerned about getting their photo op of Secretary Clinton than actually getting to the truth and holding anyone accountable. I also want to talk about
[4:38]the reporting from this week and the fact that we now know that the Department of Justice in their ongoing cover up, the most egregious cover up in American history, intentionally seem to
[4:50]have redacted more or withheld more than 50 pages of allegations from a minor against President Trump. Do not forget that Cash Patel went in front of the
[5:01]Senate Judiciary Committee and said under oath that the FBI had no credible allegations of any other people being involved in this child sex trafficking
[5:13]operation. These documents that the Department of Justice intentionally has withheld from the American public in regard to the allegations against President Trump came from the FBI. The
[5:24]FBI had interviewed this witness four times. You do not do that if it is not serious. So Cash Patel needs to be immediately brought back before the
[5:35]oversight committee. He needs to answer these questions again. And we need answers immediately. Again, America is watching. Young people in this country are watching to see if powerful people
[5:45]will continue to protect other powerful people and whether or not Congress will actually hold these perpetrators accountable. Thank you. >> And as a former prosecutor, I've been
[5:57]involved in leading invest in investigations and serious offenses. And this ain't it. Uh what we're seeing is political theater. What we're seeing is
[6:08]folks that are looking for headlines and tweets as opposed to doing the business of going about uh getting justice for the victims um in this case and
[6:19]survivors in this case, I should say, as well. And I think that that's what I think some of our friends on the other side are losing sight of is that we are
[6:28]here um to to to make certain that justice is served. And um and it's important for us and as oversight
[6:37]members to do our job to ensure that all the evidence, any information is heard and that any victims, any survivors um
[6:48]voices are heard as well. And that's what we're supposed to be doing. And so what we're seeing today is a we have not learned one new thing. Um the secretary
[6:59]is here. She is more than happy to have all of you come in there and into this deposition and hear her out. Uh but there there are those on the other side of the ais who do not want that for
[7:11]whatever reason. And so we're going to continue to push for justice. We're going to continue to work to make certain that the victims and survivors are given their due and their voices are heard and that justice is ultimately
[7:22]served. The Trump administration's treatment of the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes has been a callous
[7:32]disregard. We've seen that in his refusal to release the files. We saw that this week at the State of the Union was his with his refusal to acknowledge
[7:42]the survivors who were in the chamber. One of the things that's been confirmed today is that in addition to having no relationship with Jeffrey Epstein,
[7:53]Secretary Clinton had has no relationship with Galain Maxwell. But there are important questions we should be asking the Trump administration about
[8:04]Galain Maxwell. And I hope that our Republican colleagues will join us in asking these questions. Why is it that Donald Trump has refused
[8:14]to rule out the pardon, the clemency that Galain Maxwell is campaigning for? We held a deposition in this committee with Galain Maxwell. She used that
[8:25]deposition as an opportunity to campaign for a pardon. Chairman Comr then walked out before many of you and gave her talking points as to why
[8:35]she should get a pardon. Donald Trump needs to direct Attorney General Bondi to release all the files to unredact the illegal redactions and
[8:46]he needs to unequivocally rule out a pardon for Gain Maxwell who is a monster convicted of child sex
[8:56]trafficking. Why has he not ruled out pardoning her? Why did the deputy attorney general spend hours with her? And then why was she transferred to a
[9:06]cushy lower security prison? Those are important questions we should be asking about Galain Maxwell. We no longer have to ask whether there's any relationship
[9:15]between Secretary Clinton and Gain Maxwell. There was not. We want to make a very clear demand right now which is
[9:24]that the full transcript unedited of the secretar's questions and the answers need to be released by the majority in
[9:33]the next 24 hours. We need the the public and the American people have a right to know exactly what she said, what questions were asked of her and how
[9:44]she responded. That's transparency. She herself requested that the press and the public be allowed into the deposition. That was denied and so at a very minimum
[9:55]they need to immediately release the full transcript and we're hopeful that tomorrow for the former president that the press would be allowed in and the public as well. That's been the request. >> Thank you, Mr. Ranking member. How did that leaked photo get out and do you
[10:07]believe there should be any repercussions? >> Well, the repercussions should come from the majority and from Chairman Comr. I mean, it was it was very clear uh that that leaked photo was sent out by a member. I think it's not hard to figure
[10:17]out what member that was by looking at the photo. And the fact it was not just one photo, it was one photo and then a second post that also included a photo as well. And so that was completely
[10:28]against the rules. I think we're grateful that the secretary continued the deposition, but not not acceptable. >> Secretary has been clear the secretary's been clear that she has no relationship
[10:39]with Jeffrey Epste. She said a few times that she has had encounters with Maxwell. She clarified what those meetings were like. Did she talk about Maxwell attending her
[10:50]daughter's wedding? Did you get any new insight into those interactions? Uh >> I think obviously we can't get into specifics about the answers, but we will get all those as soon as the video is released. And so we have to be very
[11:01]careful about about about giving specifics about what was actually said in the deposition per committee rules. So, which is why we're demanding right now that James Comr and the Republicans release the full transcript where all
[11:12]the questions that were asked will be fully answered by Secretary Clinton. What I can say is that she again never met Jeffrey Epstein, never went to the island, never went to the plane, and had no knowledge of any of his crimes. This
[11:22]is completely uh unacceptable. >> Howard, when Homer went in, he said it's a possibility. When I asked him if said she had an email that she wanted to ask about, what was that line of
[11:34]questioning like in the room? And was there any discussion about moving forward on a request for a subpoena for >> we we've made the request of Howard Lenning. It it is it is unacceptable that we have the the commerce secretary
[11:46]who has lied and lied and lied about his relationships with Jeffrey Epste. The fact that he went to the island, he went on the plane, he went into business with Jeffrey Epste and yet sat there in a
[11:57]chair with the reporter and lied to the American people. He should resign today. He should be removed from office and at minimum should come before the committee. I think everyone's been clear that we need to hear from Howard Lutnik. >> Can you give us the slide in the room? The questioning in the room.
[12:08]>> I'm not I I want I I want all of the secretary's responses to be released immediately or I want the press to be allowed in to get to get details on that. >> Give us a sense of what it was like in the room. Is this a very tense
[12:20]deposition? And also, can you give a little bit more color of what exactly happened when this moment uh on social media is shared? Was there back and forth about letting the press inside the
[12:30]room? So yeah, what I can say is obviously everybody was very taken aback by the committee by the committee rules being um essentially not enforced and certainly just broken immediately. That
[12:40]is not acceptable especially when the secretary said from day one that she wanted the press in the room when the incident happened. I think this is something that that can be reported. The
[12:50]secretary's team continued to demand even after the incident to let the press into the room because what was important for her is that her answers to the
[12:59]questions not be edited, that the video not be edited. And so we we understand that and we're committed to getting this video transcript out immediately. >> To be clear, she is answering every question.
[13:09]>> To be clear, she's she's she's answering all the questions. >> Uh to be clear, she's answering all the questions. I think I can I can safely say that she's not taking the fifth. >> Mr. Garcia, >> last question. in terms of her relation
[13:20]her understanding of her husband's relationship with Jeffrey Epste. Is that something that she's been asked about? >> I I'm I want the full transcripts to be released immediately and I think I think everything that she said in her testimony will be cleared. Thank you all
[13:31]very much. >> It's a shame that it took seven months to get Miss Clinton in. Uh she answered most of our questions. Uh, I'm gonna let
[13:42]some of my my colleagues uh lament on on that, but we're we're going to not release the too many details of what happened today. We're going to try to
[13:53]get the video out uh as quickly as possible. Hopefully within the next 24 hours. That's a very long deposition. So, as quick as we can get that uh video
[14:02]uh produced, we will get that out. The transcript will will be released as as soon as her attorneys approve it. That's the standard rules of a deposition. Uh and I think that uh I think this was a
[14:14]productive deposition today. I think uh we we uh learned a lot. Uh there were a lot of questions that we asked that we you know weren't satisfied with the
[14:24]answers that we that we got, but we will continue to to move forward. Any of my colleagues, every member of the committee asked questions? I would just say one of the things I learned today is if you really have specific questions
[14:36]about the Clinton Global Initiative or the relationship between the Clintons and Jeffrey Epstein and Gain Maxwell, you got to ask Bill Clinton. >> And that's a great that's a great point.
[14:46]The number of times that she said, "I don't know. You'll have to ask my husband was was, you know, more than a dozen." And I'll I'll I'll put it like that. >> Mr. Chairman, Secretary Clinton said in her opening statement, "If Republicans
[14:58]were serious about investigating Jeffrey Epste, that you would call President Trump to testify. Why won't you?" >> Well, uh, President Trump has answered hundreds, if not thousands of questions
[15:08]from you all about Epstein. Uh, and I I think he's been very transparent in releasing the documents. We expect uh, hopefully more documents to come in.
[15:18]We're still assessing the 3 million plus documents that we have. Uh we obviously will be moving on to the next phase and and bringing more people in for questions. So uh again remember this was
[15:30]a bipartisan subpoena by members of both parties to bring in Miss Clinton and it's just a shame that it took seven months and I know every member of our
[15:40]committee has a big list of names they want to bring in. These are big powerful people that hire uh very skilled law
[15:48]firms and they delay delay delay and and you know part of when you delay in this investigation it takes seven months to bring a witness in like it did today
[15:59]that creates a problem. So we're trying to move as quickly as we can. Uh we're obviously following what's going on in the United Kingdom now. Uh we're following you know everything. I know that there are a lot of eyes and
[16:11]hopefully the media will play a role in this. The media has a role. The documents have been made public. We're going to continue to fight for more redactions. There are some names who were redacted. I think we all agree
[16:22]shouldn't be redacted. I don't think they're who you think they are. >> Well, I have just finished uh testifying. I answered every one of
[16:31]their questions as uh fully as I could uh based on what I knew. And what I knew is what I said in my statement uh this
[16:42]morning. I never met uh Jeffrey Epstein, never had any uh connection or communication with him. I knew uh Galain
[16:52]Maxwell um casually as an acquaintance, but whatever they asked me, I did my very best to respond. Um,
[17:03]it was disappointing that they refused to hold uh a public hearing so I wouldn't have to be out here characterizing it for you. You could
[17:12]have seen it for yourself. Uh, we had asked for that. We think it would have been better for the committee uh
[17:21]and its efforts to uh uh gather whatever information they are seeking. Uh we had uh a bit of a challenge in the beginning
[17:31]because we had agreed upon rules based on the fact it was going to be a closed hearing uh at their uh demand and one of
[17:40]the members violated uh that rule which was uh very upsetting because it suggested that they might violate other
[17:51]uh of our agreements. So, we had to cease the hearing for a period of time until we could get asurances that uh no
[18:01]rules would be uh broken going forward. And we returned to answer questions repetitively, literally over and over again. I don't know how many times I had
[18:13]to say I did not know Jeffrey Epstein. I never went to his island. I never went to his homes. I never went to his offices. Uh so it's on the record
[18:24]numerous times. Uh it then got at the end quite unusual because I started being asked about UFOs
[18:35]and a series of questions about Pizzagate, one of the most vile, bogus conspiracy theories that was propagated on the
[18:45]internet. uh that was serving as the basis of a member's uh questions to me.
[18:53]So I can only say that the best exchange that I had came at the very end
[19:03]when contrary to every other deposition they have uh taken,
[19:10]no Republican member asked any questions about Jeffrey Epstein or Galain Maxwell
[19:19]to anyone else they have deposed. And in fact, the Republican members didn't even show up for the deposition of Les Wexner.
[19:31]And when I said that, I had to uh point out that the only questions that any Republican member asked
[19:42]of any of the people they deposed was of former Attorney General Bill Barr. when
[19:50]chairman comr asked him about the allegations in his view about Russia's
[20:01]uh involvement in my election in 2016. Criminal activities came to light and and that he was charged and sadly given a sweetheart deal which as I said in my
[20:13]statement had that not happened perhaps his predatory behavior could have been stopped earlier. Um, but I think it is fair to say that the vast majority of
[20:23]people who had contact with him before his criminal please in ' 08 uh were like most people. They did not
[20:34]know uh what uh he was doing. Uh and I I think that is exactly what my husband will testify to tomorrow. >> This was a fair do you believe this was
[20:45]a fair hearing and do you still want to publicly even though you gave this deposition. >> Oh, I'm not going to do it again. Uh, you know, they had a chance to do it in public and I wish they had done it in
[20:56]public and I think uh they're making uh the wrong decision avoiding doing it in public. Um, I thought it was very repetitive. I
[21:07]thought that uh uh they asked literally the same questions over and over again. uh which didn't seem to me to be very
[21:17]productive. Uh and then as I said toward the end, you know, there were other questions that were totally off off uh subject. Uh so if if they are going to
[21:27]fulfill their responsibilities uh to literally investigate the investigations, which is what they originally said was the scope of their
[21:37]uh work. Uh I think they could have uh spent the day more productively. Secretary Madam Secretary, can I ask
[21:48]James Matthews from Sky News? Can I ask why was Colleen Maxwell invited to the daughter of Chelsea Clinton's wedding in 2010? She'd already been mentioned in a
[21:58]civil lawsuit by Virginia before that. Jeffrey Epste already. >> She came as the plus one, the guest of
[22:09]someone who was invited. Thank you all. >> I I don't know when the video will be
[22:20]out. I don't know when the transcript will be out. We've asked that they be out as quickly as possible and then you can see >> you can see everything. Thank you. >> You've been watching former Secretary of
[22:32]State Hillary Clinton speak after testifying before the House Oversight Committee about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Let's go now to CBS News congressional correspondent Nicole Killian who's been following today's
[22:43]developments. Uh so Nicole, what did we learn today from Secretary Clinton? >> Well, I know you were just getting ready to play the portion where the secretary
[22:53]did take a few questions from the media, including from CBS News. And I asked her if she still wants to testify publicly because at the end of the day, that's what she and her husband uh former
[23:04]President Bill Clinton called for. Uh however, Chairman Comr said that they had to do these depositions first and then he would potentially consider uh doing a public hearing, but she basically said no, you know, this was
[23:15]it. Ideally, they wanted this to be a public hearing, but uh short of that, she feels that she has uh certainly done her part. and she characterized uh this proceeding as you heard her there say uh
[23:27]that this was very repetitive in her view that she was asked over and over and over again about Jeffrey Epste and kind of had to give the same answer over and over and over again that she did not uh have any interactions with him she
[23:39]did not meet with him she did not go to his island she's never been to his home his offices and she said that she made that statement a number of times uh you also heard her there talk about some of
[23:48]the off-topic questions she got on issues like UFOs But uh at the end of the day uh she felt that she did her duty, did her part. That is something
[23:58]she alluded to in her opening statement earlier today. Obviously, not only being a former secretary of state and a former first lady, but also a former senator as
[24:08]well, re realizing the importance of legislative oversight, which is why she agreed to uh take part in this. She said she has full confidence in her husband going forward, of course, since he will
[24:20]be uh giving his deposition to the House Oversight Committee tomorrow. >> All right, Nicole Killian, thank you very much.
